A key part of the Holt-Elwell Memorial Foundation's mission is to
provide financial assistance to boys who otherwise would be unable to
benefit from the Mowglis experience due to genuine financial need.
A limited number of need-based scholarships are granted each summer on
a first-come, first-served basis. it is hoped that applicants
will make an effort to pay as much of the tuition cost as is possible
for them.
If a boy receives a campership, his family is still expected to cover
the costs of "extras" beyond tuition, such as uniforms ($200), camp
store purchases (less than $15), travel party expenses to and from the
airport, etc. Discounts for early enrollment and brothers will
not apply if a boy receives financial assistance.
Applications for camperships are reviewed and tuition grants are
determined by a committee comprised of several of the foundation's
trustees. To conform with IRS guidelines and to enable the
committee to evaluate applications fairly, the campership application
form must be filled out completely and submitted with copies of tax
returns and a completed Mowglis application form. All contents
will remain confidential, and the distribution of tuition assistance
will remain unknown to everyone except the camp director.
