The Holt-Elwell Memorial Foundation and Camp Mowglis are proud to announce the launch of Camp Mowglis Historical Society. CMHS is dedicated to the acquisition, preservation and
communication of Mowglis History. CMHS is a member of the American Association for State and Local History and strives to adhere to ASLH standards of excellence for history
organizations.

CMHS understands that the foundation for the program and culture of Mowglis can be found in its distinctive history and that keeping that history alive is a critical element to the experience of Mowglis. We also understand that history is being made every day and that capturing today’s memories is as important as those from 100 years ago. The CMHS is an expansion of the work of the HEMF Board of Trustees Archive Committee, which will continue oversight on the Society’s activities.

CMHS has developed its organizational structure and has task groups working on projects
including cataloging the Phil Hart Collection, the Brooks Benjamin Collection, the existing
collection, addressing storage and display needs, resurrecting the oldest award given to a
camper (The General Excellence Award 1903-1911), developing a timeline of Mowglis History for the webpage, and many smaller projects.
