Please discuss this with your camper:
- Mowglis is a diverse, welcoming, and inclusive community.
- The mission of Mowglis is to develop integrity, empathy, resilience, and leadership – we take this mission very seriously and make every effort to foster an environment conducive to each camper achieving this mission.
- It is important that you and your camper review our Inclusion Statement as well as our Essential Eligibility Criteria before camp starts so we’re all on the same page.
- At Mowglis, we are outspoken believers in the Golden Rule: “Treat others how you’d like to be treated.”
- At Mowglis, we emphasize living with Integrity – Doing the right thing, even if no one is watching or you know you could “get away with it.”
- Together, These principles help form “The Mowglis Way.” We lead with these themes on the first day of camp and return to them countless times throughout the season.
- We work very hard to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed as a member of the Mowglis Pack. To that end:
- We bring outside trainers during our orientation to help prepare our staff to welcome campers from different backgrounds.
- Mowglis is a place of learning and development, and that is the approach we take in guiding and inspiring our campers to be the best versions of themselves.
- We have a team of senior staff members, the Mowglis Fellows, who, along with the camp’s senior leadership, navigate any instances where campers or staff are not being inclusive or welcoming to their fellow Mowglis brothers and sisters. Together, we strive to find the best response to the various situations that may arise during the summer (neither over-reacting nor under-reacting).
- We welcome dialog with parents and guardians, but we also need you to trust us and our judgment when guiding and responding to behavior.
