Don’t let another dull summer day drag by in front of the screen. Give your child a break from the summer technology rut at Mowglis. Learn why to send your son to an overnight boys’ camp with this insight from our ACA-accredited summer camp. Spending time outdoors in a traditional summer camp environment offers significant benefits for kids of all ages. Our overnight camp program gives kids ages 7 to 16 a safe, supervised environment to grow and explore.

Our Unplugged Camp Offers a Place to Escape Electronic Distractions

Spending more time in nature and away from screens offers significant benefits. Research shows time spent outdoors supports better sleep, balanced moods, and improved cognitive and motor skills. Our scenic sleepaway camp for boys on the shores of Newfound Lake in New Hampshire offers the perfect place to form healthier habits. Here, your son can escape and unplug from the phone, TV, and gaming, interacting with the real world. We’ve designed our overnight camp program to make it easy for kids to leave technology behind. Here, your son can get out, stop for a breath of fresh air, and restore his internal balance.

Try Fun and Exciting Summer Camp Activities

Step away from the digital world and into the real world and try something new at Mowglis. We offer over 21 camping activities, called industries, that allow your son to explore new interests he may not have access to at home. We offer a little something for everyone, from observing wildlife and hiking in the woods to swimming, rowing, fishing, archery, axe throwing, woodworking, and more. Each challenge and adventure will stimulate your child physically, mentally, and emotionally. As he masters each skill, earning ribbons (similar to scout badges), he will grow in confidence, becoming motivated to step outside his comfort zone and embark on new camping adventures daily.

Build Essential Life Skills

While away from home at our overnight summer camp for boys, your child will learn to navigate life on his own while under the supervision of our ACA-accredited camp counselors. He will manage daily responsibilities like getting dressed and cleaning up after himself, choosing activities and foods, how to spend his free time, and keeping up with his daily camping schedule and chores. This freedom helps him learn to prioritize what’s important and worthwhile without an authority figure controlling every minute of his schedule. As your son navigates daily challenges without a parent to turn to, he will develop problem-solving skills and grit, growing in independence as he learns to care for himself and others.

Make Lifelong Friends and Memories

We’ve designed our seven-week summer boys’ overnight camp program to give children time and space to connect face-to-face with nature and each other, including a group of just 110 boys each session. Daily trials and tribulations help your child learn self-control, empathy, cooperation, and compromise, building the foundation for strong, lasting relationships. Each year, your child will look forward to returning to his camping family, creating memories he will cherish forever, from lakeside adventures to evenings around the campfire.

The Mow-Trow Gear Exchange: Smart & Sustainable Gear Sharing:

If your son has outgrown Mowglis uniform items (aka Mow-Trow) that are still in good shape, please add them to this spreadsheet. If you’re looking for Mow-Trow or other gear (hiking boots, backpacks, etc.), you can check out this spreadsheet, and if you find what you’re looking for, contact the parent who posted it up and either arrange for shipping (or to pick it up if you live in the same area).

The best way to pay for shipping will be for the family with the items to box them up and bring them to a UPS Store and have the parent receiving the items call the store with their credit card number. That is how we send lost and found items at the end of the summer, and it works quite well. Please note when items have been claimed once they have been. Any unclaimed items can be brought to camp on arrival day or shipped to camp.

Keeping Campers Safe: Our Tick Management Approach:

How do you manage the threat of ticks?

While we have fewer ticks in NH than in more southern New England states, we still take ticks extremely seriously.

Here are some big-picture ways we protect our campers from ticks:

  • Our defense starts with staff education – all campers and counselors are taught what, where, and when to look for, and we have the campers do tick checks at least daily and every time they’ve been out in the bushes.
  • If a tick is found embedded on a camper while at camp, he will go to the nurse for removal and bite-site mapping, and then the tick is saved, and the camper will be monitored daily for any signs of infection.
  • If there is a parental desire or signs of infection, the tick is sent to a lab for testing.
  • We have bottles of bug spray throughout camp and on all trips.
  • We cut back brush to minimize the chance of ticks hopping onto folks as they walk around camp.
